Vehicle Dynamics - Sensor Initializing

I have a new vehicle woth a factory installed AVIC-D2.

The Vehicle Dynamics screen shows 'This function is not available now.'

According to the manual, the system needs to "learn" a few things before the feature becomes available. If I go into the 3D Calibration screen, it shows 'Sensor Initializing'

The car has over 400 miles on it already. How long does this initialization normally take?

What does the speed pulse count say. If it says 0 then it's going to take some time since the vss wire is not hooked up. Otherwise relax it will initialize eventually, it just takes some time is all.

Thank you, cntrylvr79.

The speed pulse count seems to be consistently increasing as I drive.

I think the number is up in the 9 million range now?

I did notice that the Left Turn and Right Turn meters are full. The distance is 0 and the 3D meter has a few bars filled.

I have no problem being patient and waiting it out. Just wanted to make sure that nothing was wired incorrectly.

That's wierd. Does it tell you your speed while driving in the 3D calibration screen?

Have you tried pressing the small reset button over the joystick w/ a pen?

The sensor initializing message dissappeared after about 20 min of driving in my vehicle. Also, how's your satellite reception?

Also, what kind of car?

No, I can't see the speed in the 3D Calibration screen, or the Vehicle Dynamics screen. On the 3D calibration screen, I can only see a few things. The speed pulse increases as mentioned earlier. Then I accelerate or decelerate, I can see the indicators in the little car icon (front & back). When I turn, I can see the indicators for that too.

I have not yet tried pressing the Reset button. What are the implications of doing that? Will I lose my radio presets, address book, or anything like that?

Satellite reception is great. GPS works fine. XM Radio and Navtraffic are both fine as well.

On the Vehicle Dynamics screen... there's the three gauges... one big one in the middle.

The two side gauges, I'm able to switch those between Direction, Voltage and Angular Velocity. Anything else yields a 'This function is not available..." message.

The large middle gauge for Speed is also 'Not available'.

The type of car is a 2007 Honda CR-V.

Thanks in advance for helping out!

You won't lose address book. Not sure about presets. You'll lose previous destinations. After resetting, if it doesn't clear your problem, try reseting the 3d calibration values individually. Or you can try to do that first.

Just an update... the sensor finally initialized and all of my vehicle dynamics are working fine now.

I guess I just needed to be much more patient than I anticipated I would need to be. :)
