Avic-N2 to Avic-Z1

I currently have an Avic-N2 that I have been very pleased with the navigation and audio quality is top notch. Here is my question, I have had to install the N2 into two different vehicles in the past 2 years and now am about ready to install it into my newest vehicle (2007 GMC Sierra 2500HD). Installation is expensive and I am not planning on switch vehicles again for at least another 5 years, so is the Avic-N2 still good enough to get the job done or does the Z1 offer any new feature or reliability that I should consider?

Now I know the Z1 is a double-din & has the new IPOD and XM Interface (which I am excited about), but is it worth it? Can I use my IPOD interface that I have for the N2 with a Z1? Is there a way to interface the Z1 into my on-star system? Also.. lastly if I should purchase a new unit, where is the best place to buy it from?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can use the Z1 with your current iPod adaptor.

And if you have the N2 interfaced with the Onstar, it'll be no different interfacing the Z1 with it.

I would say that if you aren't planning on changing it for at least 5 years, then go with the Z1 or even wait until around March or April for the D3 (search and you'll find a post about it with likes/dislikes).

As to where to buy it from, you can also search for that; theres an ongoing post about it.

Good luck
