I have been looking around (search and manual) and I can't really get a final answer to the illumination question I have.

As far as I can tell, if I hookup the ILL wire, the D2 will switch from day to screen when the headlights are turned on. However, I was reading somewhere that the D2 has a light sensor which allows it to switch between screens.

The whole confusion bothers me because I always turn on my lights when I diver (even daytime) and I don't want a night screen during the day.

Could you guys clarify how to set up the unit to changes day/night screens only when is dark outside?

My wife has a Magellan RoadMate in her car, and the unit changes screens based on time.

Hook the ILL wire up . You will still have the option to use the light sensor. Pages 104-105 explains it . ( set dimmer to auto ) You can also control how bright or dim the screen gets .
