I have the D3 .. CD I-200 cable, and this has worked with my 2 other ipods (late 2007 era Nano and Classic).
Bought a 5th Gen off ebay (serial # u1234568659) and it wont work. I get error 11, but the ipod is charged and the "ipod charge setting is on"
have you made sure that your Ipod's software is up to date?
I have the 5th gen ipod and it works fine...def check the sortware.

I think the root of your issue is the word "ebay" Theres no telling as to the workmanship of any used item. It may be an outdated firmware issue but it is likely defective in some manner. There may be an issue with the dock connector which is only evident when using it in the manner you are using it. Good luck to you though.
Its the cable that is the problem. Go get the real pioneer one. the cable on ebay shipped from hong kong is trash.
