Hi,

Newbie so please be kind!

I've recently installed an F910BT into my car, updated the that latest 3.xx firmware, and it mostly works fine - it's even not that slow to start - but i have a couple of annoying glitches.

I've searched the forum but can't find an answer on this, so apologies if i'm asking a stupid question...

How are you supposed to upload routes to the unit? You can use POIbase or Navgate feeds to create POIs, but not routes. Similarly there doesn't appear to be any option on the unit to save a route if you go to the trouble of adding loads of waypoints.

I also tried searching to see if any of the mods added this sort of functionality, but they mostly seem to concentrate on streamlining the UI...

My £120 portable Garmin does this without bother!

The other quibble relates to the free speed camera update you get in the UK via POIbase. While you get the cameras displayed on the map, you don't get any audiable or visible warnings when you pass the camera. (And before you ask, the options are all activated in the Nav settings menu - not that daft!!)

Not sure what to try, and since my nearest speed camera is 45 minutes away, it's a pain in the rear to go and repeatedly drive past it without a plan of what to try..!

Any and all advice gratefully received.

There is no way to upload a route with AVIC FEEDS. You can upload a custom POI that you can route from which is essentially the same thing. As far a you getting no warnings for speed cameras, probably just another bug in the system of the software. You can however, completely bypass the mediocre on board function and install one of the hacks that gives you free cameras for life and works as it should by giving you audible and visual warnings including spoken warnings.

Thanks for the reply!

I've managed to work through routing using custom POIs, which while a little lengthy, works OK. The save option works now too - operator error before i think :???:

I wasn't aware there was a hack for free speed cameras in the UK! The only decent database available over here normally is PocketGPSWorld, which loads onto your unit as POIs, but unless the hack adds the function for POI warnings then there's little point...

Or am i mistaken?!

Look through the hacks and mods section for the F and X series forums. There you will find several complete hacked themes that include the safety camera database. We had this on our F series early on even before the 2.0 firmware. That functionality was not allowed through the stock firmware.
