Was driving yesterday on the highway and all of a sudden my Avic Z3 decides to reboot itself twice. On the second reboot, it booted into the music screen but the screen was frozen and did not respond to my touch.

 

I park the car and turn the car off for 1 minute and then turn it back on and now the unit does not even boot. (I have tried several times by powering down the car and turning it back on to no luck).

 

The blue lights turn on (volume, track, menu), however, the screen is black and will not move to the next screen. Does not even go to Pioneer splash screen. I tried resetting the unit by pressing the reset button, I hear the hard drive spinning but the screen is still black. The unit does not respond to any of the buttons either, I cannot tilt the screen, play music, use the navi.

 

Anybody have an idea to what the problem is? Do I have to send the unit in for repairs?

I have the same problem with my Z3. I have installed the bypass.

 

Right now when I start it up (and after re-setting) it says "Pioneer System Loading" but then the screen goes black and no buttons work except for the DVD disc input. Then sometimes the blue splash screen comes on and it gets stuck on the screen. THen sometimes the blue splash screen comes on and only the radio works (I can change the volume and browse the radio but can't use any other buttons and touch screen doesn't work). THen, just to be a tease, every once in a while when I start up the car the unit will run fine and I will have access to all features.

 

Any advice on how to deal with this?
