How Reliable??

Hey guys,

New to posting but not new to the board. Been getting all of my information here for quite a few models.

My main question is this, how reliable is this Navigation Unit? By that i mean does it break down fairly frequently? I have the opportunity to buy one of these units right now for $620. The only problem is that they are not pioneer authorized dealers, therefore i will have no warranty and that scares me. I have had mixed luck in the past with my N2 needing work twice, while my d3 was perfect for 2 years.

If anyone could give me any insight it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

They are pretty solid. There a couple of people here that have had to swap out a unit but not enough to indicate that there is a problem. What you need to worry about is weather you are getting a new or refurbished unit. At that price, I would be concerned.

I got my Z110BT coming from cartoys.com. I had them do a price match to 6th Ave via Amazon. They wouldn't go that low but they did drop $420 off their list price without batting an eyelash. That put me at $979.99. They are authorized so I will get the $200 Pioneer mail in rebate too bringing me in at a cool $797.99. I don't think you will find much better price than that for authorized. It is not that much more than what you are saying you can get it for. I think it is worth the minimal extra.

Thank you very much for your imput, i really appreciate it. I know for a fact that it is Brand New in box, and i have seen everything.

I am getting it from one of my friends and his entire business is buying things in bulk and then moving them on craigs and ebay. I made sure with him that they are new, and he is not new to this game at all so i kinda trust his opinion.

Always remember if you go cheap you may pay for it in the end. Good luck to you.

Hey guys,

Just for my own knowledge how would i be able to tell if something was refurbished. Like would it still come in all of the retail packaging and all of that or would it just come in like a generic brown box.

You usually cant. It can be in the box just like a factory sealed unit. You would never know until something went wrong and you send it in for repair. They run the serial and it comes up a refurb. They call you with bad news.

When Pioneer refurbishes stuff, they ship it back out in plain brown cardboard boxes that say refurbished on the box, instead of the normal colorful retail packaging. It will also have a sticker on the chassis near the serial number that says something about being refurbished and a 90 day warranty

If someone is just selling one that broke and they sent in for repair, and calling that a refurb, then they may have saved the original box and packaging and made it look "new"

well my buddy just picked up 10 of them and so i dont THINK that someone would do that to all of those units but... with people you NEVER know:lol:. He said that they came in 5 brown boxes marked with pioneer stuff and inside those boxes there are two units in each brown box in full retail packaging, giving 10 full units in full retail packaging.

Well im about to go pick it up ill have to keep ya updated.
