I understand that 2.5" external hard drives can obtain enough power from the F700BT, which renders itself useless. However, does a 1.8" ZIF external hard drive require less power, perhaps that will work? A friend of mine has one he's willing to lend to me to test it out, but he lives about 80 minutes away(hes at school), so I thought I would ask before I made the trip and waste gas.

Well shoot thats news to me, I just bought a usb powered external hard drive for my glove box..You say that will not work?

huh? i am lost what are you asking here? i am running a 500gig notebook harddrive on my 700bt no major issues
