I have searched and read through all the topics I think? But cannot find the answer or solution to the route learning issue. Has anyone had success with this and how.

I have a Z1 upgraded to a Z3 - that I have not used much lately - just did the Z3 upgrade. But it still seems to avoid the most direct route away from and to our home.

Your comments would be helpful! Please try to be specific if you have a reccomendation!!!

Also I have a new Motorol Droid synced to the unit, but it will not transfer the contacts. The procedure in the manual seems so vague. When you push submit business card - it disconnects the phone BT and waits for your to send the contacts from the phone ----- How when the BT is disconnected? Very Strange

FYI my new droid does better GPS naviagtion than the Z1 - Z3 - thats seems a little frustrating!

Theres only about five years difference in technology between the two. What do you expect?

For nearly 2K - a whole lot more. Garmin and Toyota work same age!

I appreciate the comments, but the reason for the post was to get answers to the questions!

Is there an option to send the contact from the phone?

No - there does not appear to be?

When I transferred my Droid contacts to my F-series, I used the unit on screen commands and it did it automatically. It took a couple times but eventually did.

Screen commands on the droid? Or the F-series nav unit?

The nav. But it looks like the Z may have different methods? I had to push from my LG phones, but that doesn't seem to be an option in the Droid menus. If you can't get it to work, I wonder if there is a bluetooth file transfer app on the market?

The older Pioneer BT would only allow the contacts to be pushed to the unit from the phone. If your phone does not have that function, your out of luck. Like I said, five years in technology between the two.

No apps - I looked at that too! Remember everyone who reads this - this is a upgraded Z1 to Z3 with the last firmware update that has the new BT features. This is now a hardware issue - this is a software issue.

Anyone have any info on the route learning or is it that everyone has the same problem and there is no cure???

Maybe the new motorola droid software 2.1 will have a solution. Its supposed to be coming soon and will have some push feature!

Surfer- I am running a hacked version of 2.1 (phone is rooted and running custom ROM) so maybe, but it still isn't an option in the menu. IIRC there may have been a screen that popped up on the Droid once the unit made it's request that asked.

Sorry to be a dork, so your telling me that when I push the Read Business Card button on the Z3 something should pop up on the phone allowing we to send contacts?

Ok Got It! :D

First you have to export contacts to to the sd card (the memory card on the phone). The export can be found on the options for contacts. Then you need the Blue Tooth file transfer app! Using the app it will show all the files on your phone you are looking for 00001.vcf . Then in options on the file screen you push more and you see send contacts - you have to select each one. Then hit send. It worked. Now the names are switched (last, first) and if the contact has two numbers cell and landline it makes two entries. But they are there to edit.

Hope this helps some!

Now guys the route learning!!!!!!!!

Interesting way about it. Glad you got it. My contacts aren't in my SD card.

Right what you do is export to the sd card.
