AVIC F700bt day/night mode not working

I installed a Pioneer AVIC-F700bt in my 2010 Nissan 370z using a scosche nn04b harness. I remember there being an orange/black wire on only one of the harnesses, not sure if it was on the pioneer harness or the scosche, but I'm thinking it was on the scosche.

I just went to test out the headunit, and the night/day mode doesn't seem to be working when I turn the headlights on. I have day/night mode set to automatic in the nav settings.

I checked the diagrams, and for the scosche harness, Orange with White Stripe says it's for Dash Light Dimmer/Illumination. For the pioneer harness orange/white says for lighting switch terminal. I know I hooked those up together. But I'm still left with an orange/black wire that doesn't go anywhere. Neither of the scosche/pioneer diagrams list an orange/black wire. I did find a scosche diagram for another vehicle that lists orange/black as Illuminated Ground. I'm not sure where to go from here?

Day/Night mode is controlled by your location and current time. Does not depend on headlights.

Screen brightness can be controlled by headlights, assuming the wire is connected. You need to adjust it once with headlights off, and another time with headlights on, anbd two separate settings will be saved.

Ah ok. Didn't know that. Just changed the brightness settings with headlights off/on and it dims now.

Also, is there any way to get the navigation buttons to dim with the dimmer setting of the stock interior gauge cluster/lights?

Why am I reading in several places that people are getting nav to switch to night mode when headlights are switched on? Is there a way to set it that way?

No, and they are not.

Navi switches to night colors when it feels like it. Headlights _only_ control screen brightness.
