something I don't get....(bypass)

The sticky says to move the mute from a pin to another pin. I have done that. It never says why we do this, nor does it say what the mute is supposed to be connected to. My wire harness for my F90bt has no Mute wire, so even though I did what it said to do the result is that the old location where the mute wire USED to be is not unconnected to anything, AND the new location (pin 4) goes to nothing as well.

Is there a better link for the bypass, one that has more than just 5 pictures?

Why don't you try reading a little better/closer? It clearly says to connect the moved mute wire to ground.

are you sure you did this

It never says why we do this,

to make it work, with out this step the unit is not bypassed and all of the functions will not be available all of the time, or you will get a incorrect hook up warning.

nor does it say what the mute is supposed to be connected to

the third post says that it needs to be grounded, make sure to read all post in a thread.

the mute wire is not in the regular harness its in the RCA harness, if this wire is not here (or anywhere) then how the hell did you say that you "did this" if you didn't (if the wire wasn't there then you did not do this)

how many pictures do you need, the first picture shows EVERYTHING, and the third and forth picture shows it even better

move mute wire

ground mute wire

ground P-brake wire

DONE it doesn't get any simpler than that

thanks for the replys.

Here is what I was missing. I read the sticky in the FSeries forum, that post has no instructions other than moving the mute wire from one spot to another. If you want the FULL directions you have to look under the DSeries forum at the sticky there. It never occured to me to look under another forum for directions.

Needless to say I found what I needed and have a fully functioning avic.

No, it's in the correct place, F-Series, Hacks and Mods, it is NOT in the D-series forum. viewforum.php?f=34. All the primary F-Series Bypass threads give you enough information to do the bypass properly, including the sticky and referenced in the FAQ threads.

nope, like i said in my last post, all the info is there, you might just have to read more than the first post, such as the 3rd and 4th post, where it says to ground both the newly moved mute wire AND the P-brake wire.

I saw those posts, but they were comments by other users stating what they did and that it worked. In the actual directions of the OP on that thread it mentions nothing about any other steps. Their comments are what steered me to the D series where I found a complete set of directions, albeit for a different model. I cobbled them all together and figured it all out... AFTER I posted this thread.

I get what you are saying, that those other people added important information.. but I was looking at it like this.

Chef "so and so" saying "You should cook your steak at 450F for 20 minutes", and another person chiming in saying "I did mine at 400F for 25 minutes and it worked." While both might work I was wanting information from the chef as to the best way.

well thats the point of forums, everybody chimes in to make everything as accurate as possible, you always want to read through EVERY post of a thread, especially with anything to do with mods because sometimes the OP might leave something out, or might miss type something, or might just be totally wrong and somebody just needs to correct them. as to "the best way" to do something, that going to be a lot of personal opinion, everybody thinks there way is the best, hell a lot of people think that there way is the only way.

there are so many threads about bypassing the f-series, however that one was stickied because it had the best pictures,
