ok, this may be a stupid question but i haven't been able to find an answer in the manual. is there a way to turn off the avic when the engine is running?

only the audio(video) can be turned off. The navigation is always on

You can also turn the screen off by holding the P.ADJ/B.LIGHT button.

bingo! thanks that's what i needed to know, no point in burning the screen in if it's not needed.
