They both use the same OS (the iphone and the Ipad) so one would think that they would, but has anyone tried to do this?
Will the IPAD work with the Z110BT?
Well sense the iPad came out today probably not. It would seem to work though. Just not very practical.
that's true, its too soon. The ipad will prob need to be jalbroken first
I've got an iPad and as soon as I get a chance to test it I will. It has the same dock connector that the iPhone and iPod share, so it ought to work. I'm not sure though that I'd keep an iPad in my glovebox 24/7, I'd rather use it for surfing the web and stuff (I'm on it now). At the moment I keep an old iPhone 3G hooked up, it's deactivated so it's basically a large iPod touch.
I just tested my iPad WiFi 16GB with my AVIC Z110BT and it does NOT work. The AVIC gives an authorization failure message and the iPad says that the accessory cannot work with the iPad.
VBLUE42 is correct that the iPad is not very practical, its huge size takes up a lot of space in my glove box.
This is likely do to the newer iPhone OS the iPad is using. I hope that doesn't mean the iPhone 4 is going to cause the same problem. FYI for anyone that is interested, iPhone 4 gets announced tomorrow.

What in the world makes you think this? ![]()

I hope it isn't as well... Breaking every damn IPod Touch/IPhone and not allow people to downgrade would surely tick some people off... Sure, you can run most of the IPhone/IPod apps on it... But you will have to replace all your accessories to work with the IPad...
I know I was pretty peeved when they decided to change their charging method from the 1st gen IPhone to the 3G... And absolutely no mention of it, at the time.....
And what gives with this stupid "this accessory is not made to work with iphone"? Is this just another example of Apple's lack to word things correctly?
Or are they trying to say that "this IPhone was not specifically designed, to work with this certain accessory"
correction, the iphone OS 4.0 gets announced.

huh? Who are you correcting?
Seeing as how this thread is somewhat Apple-oriented I wanted to take the chance to mention OS X 411, a sister site to AVIC411. I recently relaunched OS X 411 with a forum and it's in its early stages. If any of you all are Apple fans check it out and spread the word.
As for an iPhone OS update breaking accessories, I highly doubt Apple would do that. There is a large industry around making accessories for iPod and iPhone, the iPod out being a core function for radios, navis, etc. My feeling is Apple doesn't want the iPad being used in such a way.
OS4.0 works great with the Z110BT. Per my thread on it, it fixes the pixelated artwork issue, the long vr times and general inconsistency there and adds full iTunes control while also allowing control from the head unit. This is going to be a great iphone os update.
Well im trying to connect my ipad to my z110bt and its not letting me either.but i tried an itouch and it works very well.and you can see the videos on the deck also.I cant wait to find out how to make the ipad work with my deck.
I'm gonna assume that it will still work fine when streaming via BT?
I also wonder if the Z120 firmware will fix IPad compatibility.....
I think it would be a great addition for longer trips.... My truck console has a pretty nifty laptop storage in the console that it should fit nicely in(probably rig up some rubber foam to make a snug fit)...

It wont work on the 110 its not going to work with the 120. The 120 would have already been finalized by the time the iPad was announced and released.

Makes sense....
although you would figure after the recent stuff from Apple, they would hold off on the 120/110 update release, to fix, what I would think would be a somewhat quick/simple fix....
While we're talking Apple here....
has anyone noticed that the IPOD app is much more poor quality sound(static-like) when streamed via BT...than say.... AOL Radio App or Pandora APP....
I've even noticed this with 3G.... You would think that the IPod App could do quite a bit better, being that the music is stored locally, versus the other apps streaming over the air...
Honestly, The iPad in place of an iPod is about the most unpractical thing I can imagine. I have an iPod that has three times the capacity of the largest capacity iPad. Also there is reason to believe Apple doesn't wont the iPad to be controlled or utilized in the same way as the iPod with external devices. So you may never see the same integration with the iPad that you see with the iPod when in comes to in-dash devices. Pioneer is always going to focus its integration with the most popular devices. That of course at this point is still the iPod/iPhone devices so there would be no reason for them to hold back for the iPad. Next year, you may actually see iPad support. But only if Apple allows it.

Again...makes perfect sense....
I'm with you... I have an IPod to do the job....
It would just have been another kicker had Apple not mess up the IPad compatibility....... that is all...
I know you like Apple.... but this type of stuff from Apple has more/less had me screaming at times....
But then again... they are great at marketing as doing stuff like this helps their sales...
"ohh..the older Ipods no longer work with anything I own"..buy a new one..."ohh..well this IPod doesn't do this and doesn't support that"...well..buy another one of their versions..."hell...this IPhone isn't supported"..."damn...ITunes sucks on Windows...let me try a MAC"..."damn Mac OS isn't as user-friendly as you thought it would be"..."damn...now we have an IPad".."let me get that"...wait..."it doesn't play nice with my collection of accessories"...."let me buy some more over-priced accessories from Apple to replace the older ones that did work"..."why are all the IPod cables too short?" LMAO.....
I will give them credit though....they are great at pushing new technology... and make fine hardware... My Mac(Bootcamped for Win7) sits in my garage and eats up the high humidity/heat all frakin day year round......
Pushing new technology is the goods...and Apple has of late, been doing just that... I freakin hate Apple... But that is from a OS point of view... they've managed to kick arse in their IPod/IPhone area..... But their OS still sucks pretty badly... especially now that Win7 is in full force...<--- I have yet to find a video format that Win7 can't play..... yet, even with 3rd party, you have a horrible experience viewing submitted video on the web...
/rant........
This is a couple years later, but my iPad2 connects to my Z110bt fine, after I updated the firmware and maps to 2012 version.
Both by Bluetooth and via the cable.
