I recently hooked up my 700bt I am getting sound perfectly from my speakers when I play the radio but there is no sound when playing cd's for some reason. It shows that there is a cd playing, just no sound. I am also having the same issue with my ipod, it is playing but no sound. I was using the white ipod cord but I was told you have to buy the special $50 ipod cord. Any way's around this?

sounds like you have a premium sound system (factory amp) and instead of hooking up the amp turn on wire (blue/white) you hooked up the power antenna wire (blue) to the vehicle's amp turn on wire. the power antenna wire only turns on (by default) when the radio is turned on, but not when anything else is, so you factory amp is not being turned on when the ipod or cd is playing.

the correct fix is to switch the wires to the right one(use the blue/white wire instead of the blue wire)

the easy fix is to go into the settings and change the antenna wire's setting from radio to power, that way the antenna wire will power up all the time that the unit is on (all sources)

if you are talking about your using the white USB only cable that comes with the ipod, then you are using the wrong cable and it will look like its playing with out any sound (even after you fix you other problem)

the F-series uses the Ipod sound processing chip to convert the MP3's into sound, thats why you need a special cable.

you need to have a cable that has a USB plug (for ipod control) AND audio/video RCA plugs (to transmit the audio and video to the avic)

do you have to use the pioneer cable, NO, there are other brands that will work fine, but it does have to be a composite video and usb cable.

the nice thing about the pioneer cable is that the length of the usb part of the cable is much shorter than the AV part which allows you to have the dock connector & the USB plug accessible much easier

Yes! This is the case, I have an 05 Z71 Tahoe and changing the setting worked great! Are there any negative effects to come out of just changing the settings for now instead of the wires?

not really, since that car does not have a power antenna, then that wire is not needed for it intended use.
