I applied iPhone OS 4.0 to my developer 3GS and then loaded all of my music on it. The new update fixed the following issues I was having previously and added some new functionality:

Issue:

- blurry artwork

- long VR times

- constant vr db rebuilds

Added Feature:

Now instead of the Accessory connected screen, the iPhone shows near full iPod controls while maintaining control from the HU. So you can control it from either device and it is seamless. This also means you can rate your music while it is playing.

These are some great things that make the Z so much more usable.

Awesome stuff man... Thanks for posting... Glad to see some improvements... I actually thought that it ws in Pioneer's corner....

I'm curious as to how this all works out with the new multi-tasking stuff, 920/120 firmware, and Pandora.... in other words, I hope that Pioneer's (920/Z120) firmware is multitasking aware... and that there won't be any issues there....

I've played a bit with JB'ed multi-tasking... but not a whole lot....

I did have backgrounder, but it put a whooping on my battery... so rid of it and I just solely use Kirakea(spelling?), for "multi-tasking"..... I would imagine for the OS4 to be much less buggy....

That is great news, bit. Sounds like you & I had the same VR cataloging issue, is that what you are saying was fixed with 4.0? So you can run the VR just fine now?

Also, love that I'll be able to rate from my iPhone as I have lots of smart playlists built on that. I'm assuming it will also log play counts, as that is another factor for my smart playlists.

Thanks for this update! Great news all around. Hopefully the new Z upgrade will play just as nice with 4.0. :)

Yup vr takes 7 mins to do a full 6000+ song update and subsequent updates are instant no matter if the iPhone is on or off when plugging it in. The only problems I have seen is a significant delay when hitting the shuffle all button. All in all though a great update!

Well I never shuffle all, so sounds like I'll love this update. :D

Wanted to update and say that the release of iOS4 today works perfectly with the z110. Any of the little bugs in the beta firmwares have been fixed in the final. Things the iPhone firmware improves:

- album artwork is hires

- indexing is real quick and doesent demand long reindexes over and over

- authorization failures fixed

- quick info refresh

- quick album artist genre linking

If you have and iPhone or iPod touch, get this update. You will be happy you did.

Thanks again for the update.

Of course, now the new $1MM Question is will the iOS4 play nice with the updated Pio firmware. ;)
