Anybody have any ideas what it could be, waiting for the rca harness to come in, could the unit be stuck in mute mode

The obvious questions come to mind, does the vehicle have a built in amp? is that wired properly? that's the usual culprit for no audio at all.

do you trust the installer, etc..

With no RCA header/harness, there's no mute wire, since it's in that harness.

No amp pretty straight forward setup RADIO/SPEAKERS. I took another pioneer cd player and hooked it up and works fine, i was wondering about the mute wire because the unit is a refurb, could they have placed it in mute and left it.

NO, it only mutes when the mute wire is grounded, no mute wire, no mute

So its prob. the internal amp then, this shouldnt effect the rca outputs.

unless there is a problem with the sound processing part of the unit, if there is a problem with the pre amp then the RCA's probably have the same problem.
