Hey all,
So read through forums, found answers to some of my questions, but still have a few. V sorry if I am asking the same stuff that has been covered, I must have missed it! Thinking of buying a F900BT!
First of all, sound quality. I have a DEH-6050UB Pioneer head unit already with my sound system which is of fairly high calibur, JL audio gear, running two amps, single sub, splits, and 6" rears. Just wondering if the sound quality on this head unit will be similar / better / same? Both Pioneer, and on paper all I can see that the F900BT doesn't have is the Sound Retriever which is kind of like Creative X-Fi Crystaliser, makes everything sound just that bit prettier.
Secondly, I'm looking to buy a US F900BT from Ebay for use here in the land of Aus, now from the multiple tutorials / posts about upgrading iGo software on the unit I'm going to assume it's fairly easy to do, especially considering I already run iGo 8 on my phone! Love that software. Just wondering if there's any problems encountered with Australian software that I'm unaware of, or Australian maps? And is that the default Navigation software that comes with the headunit to begin with, or is that some sort of hack? And will the maps be the same as the ones that I've downloaded for my phone GPS application using iGo?
Third! Firmware upgrades, do I need to purchase those or are they given out freely by Pioneer? I saw that it was free to download the F910BT from the Pioneer site, the 3.0 firmware but do they need keys or something? Someone said earlier that Pioneer said that the F900BT headunits should be able to use that firmware, and they were asking for confirmation, but no one responded so is it safe to assume that it's fine to use that?
And are there any other issues that I might not have thought about? I hear that USBs suck on the head unit, so I'll have to grab a big ipod to replace my 2x32gb USBs I've been using for music, also someone mentioned that radio might not work properly if I get US headunit cause of the different steppings? Doesn't sound right to me, but honestly I don't really care, I never listen to radio.
But yeh, if anyone could answer me these questions three, would be VERY appreicated. Sorry again if I've missed previous posts detailing this, and if there are any other issues I should know about before buying, that'd be great!
Thanks,
~Sydz
