Hello all. It's my first post. Ive seen the character of this forum. I've done my research before bringing it to the group. I really should have posted earlier.

I have a AVIC-F9110BT. It's outfitted for the EU market, but it's custom made for my Passat so I ordered it from Ebay. Otherwise it's just a AVIC-F910BT. They said they would upload all of the US maps and, by and large, they did. I was missing the Pennsylvania map and, considering half of my family lives there, I needed to add it. Instead of doing it the easy way I, of course, went the long way and tried to update the entire thing to a revision that it already had, with maps it also already had.

A long story short, I needed to get to USA_Pennsylvania83TA_2009.06_090710.fbl added to my maps via testmode. Instead I ended up bricking my unit, I think.

I have spent 12 hours researching this and taking stabs at understanding the interface. After the second time at the blue service screen I was not able to return to normal operations. I could hear the drive spinning up, the lights pulse a slow blue, but I have a blank, black screen. I am able to get back into service mode, but nothing else.

I, at first, thought that I has erased my flash memory, but did not replace it with anything. This was not the case, I reintroduced it to a new wince profile to a message "read successful 100% (or something similar)" I was browsing the other menus and tested the uboot, the result was "bad". Being familiar with Linux, I know that this is a pain in the ass. Having a single knob for interface and sneaker net for new data, I knew I was in trouble.

Ok, on to the questions. Is there any way other than a corrupted Uboot record create these symptoms? That being said, and judging from the posts, I am not liking the prospects for finding (an uncorrupted) one.

Any suggestions? Links to data? I'm tapped out. All the research in the world won't help if I cant find a way to a clean boot of some kind. I would be happy to put my money where my mouth is on this one. Consider it a bounty to the person who can help.
