I heard that I can get the deck to dim when headlights are detected? I think its night mode. How do I do this?

Step 1. Adjust screen brightess with headlights off.

Step 2. Adjust screen brightness with headlights on.

Of course you do need to have the illumination wire connected to the HU. Otherwise you'll only get times color scheme switching in the map screen.
