VSS Wire

Hello,

I connected the VSS wire on my car by using a wire tap and some solid copper wire going to the HU into the pink wire. I looked at the unit and it always read 0 for the wire. What could be causing this?

Thanks,

Michal

It's not tapped right, is what's wrong. I used a T-tap myself on mine and had the same problem. You need to splice the wire in and solder or crimp it. I cut mine, used a butte connector, and crimped, and now it works fine.

T-taps (vampire taps, etc) don't really work that great for all but the most basic signals - the reverse wire, for example. The VSS sends a constant signal and is very voltage-sensitive so you really want a solid connection there. I mean, it can be done, it has been done, but look where you're at :)

Alright, I'll solder it and heat shrink wrap it. Thanks!

also use a meter and make sure that you have the right wire

Soldered and heat shrinked it bit it still didn't work and I got PISSED. Then I went to the radio side and it turns out the butt connector fell off and the wire seperated . All good now! :D
