I am thinking of purchasing an x710BT, but wanted to confirm that it will charge my ipod touch and iphone. Can I use the apple USB cable? I'm not concerned with video.

It will charge your ipod and iphone.

You must use a cable that has audio and video outs. If you just use a plain usb cable no audio will come out, you will just be charging and view the info on the pioneer display. You can use apple's AV ipod cable.
