So far it works great and sounds much better then my old stock.

Had some questions that someone here might be able to answer.

1) is there a mute on the unit?

2) can I make it ring when someone calls and if so can I change the

ring tone?

Right now when I get incoming calls, no sound but just a screen appears

letting me know someone is calling.

3) anyone here good with relays as I want to add a switch that lets me view the rear without using the Nav. so I can get a complete view. also I want it to work with the reverse so I am sure that can be done with a relay added to that wire.

Other then that I love the look and features of this unit. By far the best on the market that I know of.

Not really, press and hold AV or press and hold VOL- till it's quiet. You can hook up a separate switch into the cell phone mute wire for an external MUTE button, but it doesn't have one normally.

It does ring. There are volume settings. MENU - SETTINGS - VOLUME and the ring volume in there. You can't change the ring from what I know, but it does ring.

That might be tough. You would have to fake it into thinking you are going backwards. Not that it can't be done, but what will happen to the nav if you tell it you are going backwards? I don't know. I don't know if anyone tested that. Is it really worth wiring something up for 1/3 left of the screen? Is the 2/3 - 1/3 view really that bad? You still get the entire view I think, just scrunched. I suppose it's possible, but I don't really see the need to go through the work. It might confuse the nav system too.

As ducatiboy said, might confuse the system, but I really dont think that the system cares... just my opinion of course, you could wire this up with a diode so you could utilize both reverse and a switch, you wouldnt need a relay.

But keep in mind that I am not sure that it wont cause some problem with running the unit in what amounts to reverse though your driving forward. Also, you do know that you cant really use the unit while it thinks its in reverse, like I dont believe you can go to the audio menu, or things like that. you HAVE to stay on the rear view mode while in "reverse" I believe.

thanks, I will check the settings but as for now it does not ring at all.

As for the rear cam. just wanted to see if it was possible but given as you said the Nav. might think its in reverse. Not going to play around with that at lest for now.

Only only thing I am thinking about is getting a TV tuner but not to sure if I would really need it sense you'll only get local channels which is not much around here. Might be good just for the news but 200++ is alot just for the news.

ok so I tried that and still I cannot hear any rings. just a pop sound if anything. I do have the Navigation Guidance Speaker if that makes a difference. any ideas?

Check your phone and make sure it's not in Silent or meeting mode. What type of phone? If you have profiles in your menu then that's where you want to go.

also, i think in the settings theres an option, in the lower left corner. Something about tel/something. I know I am a little vague but again I am drawing from memory here.

have the Motorola E815 with Verizon

I did check everything and the phone rings just not the unit 'Z1'

also if I take out the Guidance Speaker, will it still work the same? will the sound come from the speaker now?

Are you using the DEQ8000 5.1 processor? If you're not, unplug the guidance speaker and see if you get a ring

No not using the DEQ, was thinking of that as well but have to wait until I have time. Takes time just to get the unit out. Wanted to make sure before I did anything. Thanks :)

for the rear view, I believe someone earlier said they put it into video in, instead of the normal rear view and can bring it up anytime they want full screen.
