Every time I play my iPod the unit wan't to search my iPod library to gain voice recognition details. Seems like this should be a one time deal. I am leaving my iPod connected to the stereo

Go into your settings and turn VR off. RTFM....

yea you only need to do the VR rec once and after adding any new music, then turn that option off until the next time that you add music
