F900BT boot seems to last forever....

Just finished installing an F900BT and I noticed the boot seems to take forever. I decided to time it last night and it takes roughly 45 seconds from turning the key on to the unit becoming functional. Its to the point where I start the truck, back out and am already on my way before the system becomes active. That seems a bit excessive.

Honestly I understand that it has to boot up and I am not really worried about that but I am getting ready to install a reverse camera. If I have to wait for almost a min. after I start the car for the reverse camera to work it is pretty much pointless for me to install it as I will have already backed up and be on my way before the camera is even working.

Is there anything I can do to speed up the boot time?

Does the 45 seconds mine takes seem normal?

Does the unit have to boot before the reverse camera will work, IOW if I had a camera installed would it come up even though the system has not finished booting up?

Yes the 45 seconds is normal, before the firmware fixes,it was worse up to 90 seconds or more. I do belive the back up cam will show right away though. I've installed a few and I don't remember having to wait. There are a few things that will work right away. The radio begins playback with in seconds of power up as well as the CD player. All digital media takes the full 45 seconds as the unit loads all of the nav stuff first.

completely normal, thats just the way the cookie crumbles

no, if you put the car into reverse right after starting the car, the camera will come up on the screen with in a few seconds, if the unit is past a certain point in the boot up process, then you will need to wait much longer.

i just remote start my vehicle at least one minute before reaching the car to make sure that the unit is fully functional by the time im in it, this also give my car a little time to warm up and get oil into the engine before i tear off somewhere

Thanks for the help guys. I still need to install the camera but atleast I know it will work ok.

On a cold start I will let it sit for a min and warm up a bit. I was more talking about like when you stop somewhere for a few min then jump back in to go somewhere else.

yup just start the car like normal and put it into reverse right away, you could always hook up the reverse wire(incase you didn't hook it up during the original install), and turn the option on, so that you could see how long it takes for yourself before actually installing the camera
