Pioneer Z1 Questions

So I'm a hop-skip-and-jump away from getting the Z1. Can anyone help with the following questions:

Backup camera:

I saw the pictures of the backup camera in Steves install. Steve where did you put your camera and what type of camera did you get? I've seen before on other backup pictures that some have green, yellow and red lines to let you know how close you are to someone or something. Is this a feature of the camera or the headunit? If it's the headunit, does the Z1 have it? If it's the camera, which ones have it?

XM and XMNavTraffic:

How much are you guys paying? I would like both, is there a package to request? I've heard of some getting both for $9 a month if you pre-pay.

Hard Drive:

I know the Z1 has 10 gig of memory for DVDs or music. In order to put stuff on the hard drive does it have to record to it in "live time"? As in can it burn a CD like my computer does or does it need to play the entire CD to record it to the hard drive? Is it a removeable hard drive that I could transfer stuff over from my computer?

Thanks again,

Duke

Hey Guys,

It was me who posted above, I didn't realize I wasn't logged in at the time.

Duke,

I can't help with the backup camera or XM since I don't have either, but I can answer your hard drive questions. The CD drive reads the discs at 4X, so a 40 minute CD takes about 10 minutes to rip to the hard drive. Also, you can't navigate the CD (like go to a different track) while it's recording from it; you're stuck listening to the CD sequentially, until the entire disc has been recorded, even though it plays the music back from the hard drive when it's in the process of recording a CD. But you can switch to another source and listen to it while the recording continues in the background.

The hard drive is removable, but you have to take out some screws to get to it; however, it's not Windows compatible, so you can't use it with a Windows system. It may be a proprietary format (or one of the Linux file systems), but hopefully it won't take long for someone to crack it...

How'd you guess? 8)

I like it a lot more now that I have reliable navigation and an iPod interface that won't drive me completely insane... I had a Magellan Roadmate 500, which gradually lost accuracy, to the point where it would take 20 minutes or more to locate where I was; I had it repaired under warranty, and sure enough, after the warranty expired, it started doing it again. And it was a pain to use, mounted in the A/C vent--not very aesthetically or ergonomically pleasing. After that experience, I bought the 5-year extended warranty from Sound Advice (where I had the Z1 installed), in case the Z1 ever develops similar problems...

I also had a Monster iCruze iPod interface for the Ford factory stereo, which only supported playing songs from 10 playlists, had maddeningly slow track navigation, and worst of all, it started over at the beginning of the first playlist every time the car was started. It was a Monstrous annoyance that I'm glad to now be free of!

Awsome, if I had know that the Marauder was only going to last 2 years, I would have bought one instead of the Vic. Any pics of your install?

Hey Guys,

Does the Z1 have a reverse tilt feature?

Do you mean can the screen tilt out from the top, instead of from the bottom? No, it can't do that. Were you thinking of trying to mount it overhead somehow?

No I have an 05 F150 and the dash slopes away from you, so it'd be nice for it to be able to tilt down a bit to avoid glare.

I wonder if I could install it with an off set so when it's at a 1 or 0 it's in a "reverse tilt" position and then at a 4 it's flush with the dash.
