Hi All,

I bought a Z120BT from Al&Eds, and had it installed professionally. The USB and miniplug connectors were routed to my center counsole.

I bought the correct CDIU50V from dealer and yesterday when on a trip and having issues swapped it at BestBuy for the same... so as to be sure it was the "official" cable.

Here is the problem.

i) the stereo miniplug connector does not allow audio unless I back out the male plug until the first "band" on the pin. Meaning if I plug it fully, I get no audio, but if I "jimmy" it around I can get audio (this made me think the cable was bad, hence replacing at bestbuy.... still same problem

ii) when I first connected it, everything seemed to be fine, but it took a long time to update the VR library.... longer than my drive. I read the post and next time got it to work fine.

ii) on day 1 I started to get connection errors. I would connect the ipod, but no beep, and no interface/connection with the unit

iii) on day 2 the problem was getting worse, sometimes it would connect and then as soon as (at least I concluded that) whenever bumps in the road would happen, the connection would fail, or the unit would connect/disconnect repeatedly, beeping each time.

Could the shop have used the wrong bus cable to run from unit to console?

Has anyone else had these problems with their ipod? I've used two units now and both have the same problem.

Do you think the headunit is just faulty, or am I just looking at a bad connection?

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like the unit is defective. Have it exchanged.
