Calibration

Connected the VSS today on the Z1. Had only been able to get into simple hybrid mode (of course). Within a couple of miles driving (literally 2-3) it switched to 3D hybrid. Is that the final calibration mode. It happened so quickly. I thought it was suppose to take 15 - 50 miles. The manual is really useless on this topic.

Thanks

Not sure exactly the sensor need for calibration, it never seems to be consistent between different installs, so I guess it just needs a certain amount of left and right turns and acceleration and deceleration readings to calibrate itself, so I guess you gave it enough input quickly, Mr. Andretti. It may also have something to do with how long the installer left the ignition on in the car after he powered up the unit or if it was a nice day at the beach and he need to to take the car for a test drive for "calibration purposes".

Crap, just re-read your post and noticed you stated you already had the simple hybrid sensor set up. When you connected the VSS, the gyro didn't need to recalibrate, only compare movement through the GPS and the ppm (pulses per mile) on the VSS to set up the sensor in hybrid mode, which would only take a couple miles.

I was there when they connected the VSS ...... no joy rides. But, they were the one's that Dynamatted the whole car when they installed the Z1 and I wanted to show them how quiet the car was with the new exhaust ......... even slightly north of the post limits  Maybe that's how the unit calibrated so quickly.

And 3D Hybrid is what I'm shooting for, now???
