Hi Members,

I have been reading this wonderful forum for a month and finally a couple of weeks ago got my AVIC-Z1 installed with Bluetooth, XM/NavTraffic and iPod adapter (& the rear-seat remote-control that currently controls the DVD player on the main HU - works great, the steering remote is on order) on my 1997 Infiniti Q45 which had a factory Bose system (I think the HU was Clarion and the amps and speakers are from bose). I used the high-low adapter to keep the Bose amp and speakers. All installations were done professionally (very well done!!!) by the AMS Stereo out of Stevens Creek Blvd here in Bay area (Kurtis was great, knew everything about the Z1, the bypass et-all - I am sure he is reading this :-)).

forgot the online album:

I love all the features, bluetooth works great on my 3 cell phones: blackberry, Sprint Treo650 and the new Cingular 8525. I have seen occassional issues (bluetooth connection drops midway in the call) with the Cingular 8525 WM5 phone but I will hold my comments until I see a pattern. But my listeners never complain of a echo or a noise. This is a Oct 2006 Avic-Z1, not sure what patches it has got. Q45 is generally a very quiet car even at high freeway speeds - still no echo. The phone volume is at highest-1 level, and when I did the pairing, I think the phone set volume was at mid-level. The microphone is a little above and behind the rear-view mirror (see the pictures in the online album).

The navigation is sometimes(read very rarely) off, mostly on new construtions I think where the house# appeared on the screen as having reached but it was still a 100 or so feet away. But that has not been a big concern so far. I am going on a road trip shortly and we will have more feedback when we return.

Great to be a part of this terrific forum...

cheers

Nice job, Kurtis! Not an easy install with the Bose system, so kudos!

What do you mean not easy? 70-7551 takes care of the bose issue. Anyway looks purty.

I am not sure if it was the 70-7551 (which is just a connector without a high/low conversion), I think they used a bos adapter that brought down the 2volt output from the Avic-Z1 to 1volt that goes into the bose amp. Agree that this is an easy job as long as the installer is aware of the bose amp requirement (1volt vs. the standard 2volt).

The installation is easy if you have done it once on an infiniti and it seemed like his team had done this many times before. He was fine when I asked him to put the antenna outside on the trunk lid - he was accommodative...

Sorry, thought you had bypassed the Bose amp.
