I purchased a used F700BT, installed in with the hard wire hack (grounding the parking brake). I have also installed the 3.1 update.

With that, i am not getting any gps signal. The antenna is plugged in and i have placed it on my roof unobstructed. I can see the satellites (red dots under nav settings/GPS & Time settings but it will refuse to lock on to any of them. I am wondering if this is an internal hardware problem or a bad antenna.

I just purchased a new antenna and it is on its way but in the mean time, is there anything I should be looking into?

it could be either, when you go to install the new antenna, make sure that the plug is not damaged in any way
