F920BT & the X920BT are identical models except for the VR feature on the USA version. Therfore, it must be possible to enable this feature on teh European version of the unit. Has anybody any ideas on how this would be done? Any info appreciated

I am sure it is but how do you access the secret menu and enable this feature :)

This would require a hack and that has been covered and stickied on this forum.

Hacks are not possible on that unit at least for now.

Well I installed the latest firmware for the X920BT model on my F920 unit. It works fine but the voice recognition feature is STILL disabled even though the files for the feature have been installed onto the unit :(

It looks like that both eu and us firmware are identical. I have compared unzipped "AVICZ110.zip" (us) and "AVICF20BT_APL2.00300.zip" with WInMerge and it was no difference. Looks like the difference is inside the software for some specific chips not in the firmware itself.

If that's the case and the difference is not in firmware but the software then it most be possible to hack the sofwtare to activate the VR feature. Are there any glowing developers out there that cna help :)

If there were they would be working on it now. Don't hold your breath. There is a hacking effort with promise in the works now on the Z platform so we will need to be patient to see how far it comes. Once that fully materializes it at all, everything that applies to the Z should also apply to the X.

Not holding my breath  .... but any progress on hacking the z series? How will this apply to the X series

No.

How will this apply to the X series

They run the same software.

If the run the same sofwtare then the hack for z series should work! or am clutching straws.... again

Well what hack are you referring to? But yea, once there is a hack, whatever it is, it should work on this unit.

I was referring to the following hack:

Cracking the Z110/20BT: F10/F20BT included

Unless there is another one?

All that does is allow you to install the Z120 upgrade and bypass the copy protection so you don't have to pay for it. It offers no other benefits.
