thanks - I read that thread - sorry, should have mentioned that. Used a Divx converter - nothing would play. I don't think that thread mentioned if extensions should be .divx or .avi, and which converter was preferred

using ffmpegX on Mac OSX for encoding.

Possible CAPS:

1GB maximum file size

1000 kb/s maximum video bit rate

VIDEO

CODEC: XVID ffmpeg (*.AVI)

RESOLUTION: 640 X 360 for full screen or 640 X 272 for top/bottom bars

FRAME RATE: 23.97 or 29

BITRATE: 900 kb/s

AUDIO

CODEC: MPGA

BITRATE: 128 kb/s

SAMPLE RATE: 48kHz

I'm testing out a Windows video converter, AVS Video Converter. Seems to work good, tested out a few vids already.

what is the extension that the Pioneer understands? Does it understand more than one - .avi. divx. mp4 etc?

also, what resolution are you finding works best

I've only been able to play XVID MPEG4 (*.AVI) so that is what I use. 640X360 works good.

Anyone know of a method converting M4V itunes format with DRM to AVI ?

Been there also ; was kinda time wastin’ to try to convert protected m4v to avi from Itunes with a lot of converter apps or what you call’em until actually managed to find a good solution outta this.

Anyways, solved my problem with some Tunebite Converter app.

Used Tunebite to convert protected m4v to avi, t'was actually pretty easy.

Dunno, give it a try, should work for u.

Thanks - I'll give it a look. I don't really care about "protected" files, but just finding an extension and resolution that the overly fussy Pioneer likes would be good.

To answer the original post. I put some music on mine, but disappointed that album art is not support through the SDHC card. Oh well.

Well, since Tunebite actually works, besides converting protected videos, to convert a ton of other file formats, u shouldn't have any problems with it.
