Sound staging/position question

I have a question regarding the position setting from the sound staging screen. It shows four seating positions, but only buttons for center, right and left. It highlights front left, front right, or both, but I can't select the rear seating positions. This is true on my Z120 and X920, so I assume it's normal? It's strange to show four seating positions if you can't choose two of them.

Any thoughts?

Also, perhaps related, this came up when I was trying to get a decent fader setup. The rear speakers sound is much lower than the front, when I isolate rear with the fader, the sound is terrible. Sound up front is great. Anyone see issues like this?

Yes I have noticed the same thing, are you running an amp or sub? I am running a factory bose amp but no sub.

No amp or sub, just connecting the Avic to stock speakers.

check the settings the rears may be set to run in sub mode. this would give you no rear seating in the staging settings, and all the other problems. jim

Yup I thought of that, but it's not the case, I have rear speakers set to full. And although I have the staging screen problem with the X920, I don't have an actual issue with sound level, the rears sound fine. With the Z120, it's both, the rears are very low, and the staging screen is front only.

Can you highlight/select the rear seating positions from yours? Even the screenshot in the manual shows buttons for center, left, and right only.

That is by design sense usually most people wont position their position for the rear seats.

Thanks, I thought that might be the case, as it's common to my 920 and 120. Doesn't make sense though, I rather like the abililty to pick any configuration, I have a X994 in one car which let's you pick rear seats also.

Especially for a dual zone system, it's very plausible that you'd focus on rear for movies.

how does your balance/ fader screen look. is there only balance? had a customers ford 250 short a factory speaker. when the speaker shorted the unit switched the rears to sub and the fader went away and you could not switch back until unit was unplugger for 5 mins and the shorted speaker removed. very strange. duplicated symptoms several times. jim
