cntrylvr79 this may be one for you??

After I got the Z1 installed at a local shop I immediately noticed that the bypass was not working. Also, my power mirrors were not working. I brought it back to the shop to correct these issues only to get the car back with none of the "moving" functions working and the power mirrors still inoperable. I took the dash of myself to find that they failed to ground the parking brake wire and pin wire. The details of this are in this forum:

Well now I am still stuck with the power mirrors and now the automatic seat settings on my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder not working. I brought the car to the dealership for some prescheduled touch up work and thinking it was something simple I had them check it out for me. A $600 diagnostic cost charge later the best they could tell me is that it is due to the installation.

The shop that I used for the original installation will not take responsibility for the damage even though I told him the mirrors were not working before I ever went in the dash.

I talked to another shop in town and they suspect that they either tapped into the wrong wire or shorting something out by touching a wire they should not have. I have to get the Z1 pulled out of the vehicle soon (Nissan scratched the screen when it is in for the "service" so they are paying to have it shipped back to Pioneer) so I want to get this other shop to check the connections. Any ideas what is going on?

Needless to say this has been a very painful process. I think the best advice I have gotten has been from this board. Thanks again for the help guys!

-- By the way I had ordered a screen protector from ShieldZone. It came in the day after the dealership scratched up my Z1. :(

Wow!

By any chance, could it be a fuse?

Something has to be wrong here...and for $600, I would expect the dealer to be able to tell me just what the hell it was! That's ludicrous to charge that much and tell you nothing.

After you find the problem, take the installer to small claims court if he refuses to accept his responsibility.

I checked the fuses. Unfortunately they were all fine.

I was pretty upset about the $600 and once I am able to find the true problem and prove it was the installer's fault I will be taking the installer to court if necessary.

welp, I am wondering why you touched it then if things werent right from the get go. You should have NOT worried about the bypass until the unit was installed properly and everything worked. It doesnt look like from your other post that you noted things not working then. I didnt read it all but could not find mention of that.

You are pretty much screwed as far as getting the installer to pay for it since you have gone in yourself and messed with things. You have no proof that it was not working prior and you have put your hands on their installation, you cant expect them to warranty your work though the problem may very well have been there before you touched things.

The best advice would be to find the problem by whatever means you can, checking fuses, checking connectors, and even letting the dealership do there work to find the problem if you can afford it. Then take what they find.. for example if they find a connector in the kick panel was shorted or unplugged or something, then it can stand to reason that the installer might have done it when looking for speed sense, reverse, or something like that.. but if the problem is found to be in the area of your ground points or the radio itself it will be very difficult to pin it on the installer since you have been in there.

sorry for the problem, hope you fix it.

Wow that sucks. I couldn't even begin to guess what the problem could be if all of the fuses are good and the connectors are all plugged in securely. I'd double check the connectors in the driver's door. Also the dealer, after the z1 was removed should have told you EXACTLY what the problem was especially for 600 bucks.
