Car Speed Signal Input?

Hello:

Nearly finished my self-install of a new Z-120BT in my 2010 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. In addition to the head unit I've done a backup camera, Sirius SCC1 tuner, PAC SWI-PS steering wheel controller and used a Scosche FDSR Can Bus Adapter.

Cut to the chase! The Pioneer harness has a PINK Wire for 'Car Speed Signal Input'. The retailer that sold me the head unit that the pink wire is NOT connected or necessary, is this really correct? I question it since my FDSR Can Bus Adapter has a purple/white stripe wire for 'VSS Signal'. Is this the same thing as the Pioneer's 'Car Speed Signal Input'?

Before I put all of this back in the dash, I want to get it right but also don't want to screw anything up! BTW, initial testing indicates that everything is working as it should, this early glimpse at the 120's features places is far and beyond any 'OEM' units I've had in the past.

Thanks in advance for any experience with this?

Regards,

Disregard what the retailer told you and connect the VSS.

Technically it's not required for your headunit to work but it is very highly recommend that you connect it. Most retailers/installers are lazy bastards and will never connect it for you. Don't listen to what they say, do a proper install and connect the wire.

Thanks Guys! Great, experienced advice as always! My install is technically finished, however I do need to learn a few things. Just about all is working and the system seems very intuitive, however I should probably read the manual ;)
