Hello guys,

In next month we will get our new car, a Kia Sportage 2011. At first I wanted to order the car with factory built in Pioneer F20BT and reverse camera. But at that time the factory was already full of orders of standard equipped cars so it was not possible to order the car with built in navigation for next six months. So instead we ordered a standard equipped car to get the car sooner. Now to my question:

Is it possible to put an AVIC model myself in the 2-din socket and still be able to use the steering wheel buttons? Because there is an option to get the car with the AVIC F20BT, it shouldn't be impossible to get the wheel buttons working. The question is, how you connect the wheel buttons to the AVIC unit? How do you get your wheel buttons working with the AVIC models? In the new Kia Sportage there is also two phone buttons on the wheel. Is it possible to get this working?

im also very interested if this setup, to my soon to come kia sportage 2011, would love to install the avic f20bt

can you please verify, that all the steering wheel controls will work, also the 3 phone buttons for "answer" "hang up" and "voice recognition"

also, do any of you know, if i can use the factory installed microphone, and hook this up the pioneer instead, i figure i would have to solder a mini jack plug to the wires from the factory installed microphone, but would you think this would work?

sincerely

You would have to ask the manufacturer for this, as every car is a special case. Please follow the links above.

ok, pac audio, finally wrote back, and confirmed that the SWI-PS will work with the buttons

one last question though.

if i buy the SWI-PS will i still need the hello pioneer harness CA-R-KIA.114

http://www.pioneer.eu/eur/products/car_accessories/Kia/Sportage/_2010/index.html

i know that i will need the facia plate, and the passive antenne adapter, but i cant figure out if i need the specific harness CA-R-KIA.114 or just some plain iso connector adapter?

can anybody help?

If the SWI-PS supports KIA, then instructions should be provided in their website on how to connect to the existing connectors of the Pioneer AVIC and KIA.

hi chuck88, maybe its just me, but i cant find this info, i have read the link posted above, but i´still not sure if i need anything ells

http://www.pac-audio.com/swixprogramming/showstepbystep.asp?InterfaceChecked=1&RadioGroupPioneer=0&mmSearch=KIA&Submit2=Search+Vehicles&ID=472

perhaps i shall just order the pioneer adapter cable, and wait to buy the pac-audio until i have the car in possesion

have just received an email from pioneer denmark, with the wiring diagram for the CA-R-KIA.114 (the original adapter harness from pioneer to kia sportage)

and it confirms that the bluetooth phone buttons on the steering wheel is supported in this harness

so i dont need to buy the pac-audio adapter after all, now i just need the car and the F30BT to be released in denmark

have a nice weekend

Greetings from denmark.
