My avic Z1 is not responding to voice commands. Anybody got any ideas, before I go to circuit city and have them rip it out of my car. And go buy a bunch of paper maps.

lol, paper maps will definitely be different. need some more info... like does the little icon in the lower left hand corner come up for you to "talk" to it? are you able to get it in to the mode where it will listen to you? is it just not hearing you?

Yep that would be the problem. You need the little blue circle with the voice button. Look at the bottom left of this:

If the mic is not plugged in it will not be there like this:

You either didn't plug it in at all or you plugged it into the digital out which looks just like it and is right next to it. If the z1 senses the mic, it will display that icon, then you press it and it will respond to your voice.

Thanks for the help. It appears my installer again has missed the boat. I will print this out and show him, or maybe his owner.
