F900BT: Upgraded but now unresponsive after first click

Okay, this used F900BT I picked up that has had problems since I bought it, is now upgraded to firmware v3.0201 and WinCE has been upgraded using the files and info from this topic.

I've done the WinCE upgrade and I've done the copy of updates maps and files by copying the above referenced files to the "My Flash Drive" folder on the unit.

Now when it boots up the previous owners startup screen no longer displays and the standard Pioneer splash screen and copyright dates show. It then switches to what looks like a new unit setting screen – it asks me to choose a language, which I do (English US) and then it moves to the "voice" selection screen but all buttons are unresponsive. It's like it's locked up or this screen just isn't "active" for some reason.

Has anyone experienced this after doing an upgrade? And if so how did you fix it?

Could this have anything to do with me using a Mac? Could it be a permissions problem with the files I copied to the "My Flash Disk" folder on the unit?

Things I've learned so far into this resurrection...

1. When bench testing, ensure that at least the red, yellow, black, light-green and (moved) yellow/black wires are connected correctly.

2. When entering into Service mode to do the WinCE upgrade, hold the eject, map, menu and reset button for 10 seconds, the release the reset button, then after 5 seconds release the eject button. This is the only way I could get it to enter into the service mode, otherwise the screen and buttons would turn off after 20 seconds cancelling the upgrade, the fan would stay on though.

2. Perserve working with Testmode. I tried to calibrate the screen as recommended, but either I couldn't get the buttons in the calibrate panel to work properly or I would get them to work but the step at the end of calibration that states touch screen to complete calibration would never work. After trying to move the files on an uncalibrated screen about 15 times, I was finally able to do it selecting the various out-of-alignment WinCE menus.

Do you still have the unit on the bench or is it installed. The problem your having indicates it is a P. Brake issue.

It's still on the bench and I've grounded the parking brake wire, err... connected to the (-) on the battery along with the black ground wire and the yellow/black wire which was moved in the connector as per the hardware bypass. The red and yellow wires are connected to the (+) on the battery.

At this point in the 'recovery' of this unit, if it was only the parking brake wire that was the problem, I should be able to access and click through most things in the interface, but it's only allowing me a single button press on the interface, it moves to the next correct screen and then it appears to lock up and all other buttons, including the 'back' button on this second screen become unresponsive.

I believe it's something else in the software since it boots, displays the proper graphics and gives me one button press. I'm wondering if when I was having a hard time keeping it in Service Mode (going black after 20 seconds because I wasn't holding the reset button for 10 seconds before releasing), and in my rush to try and do the step before it went black, I may have accidentally selected one of the other options in that menu and not the SD Update + Format option, thus "pooching" a critical part of the OS. I'm thinking that the info in the topic Solved the FormatMBR /SDMLC and MapDBinfo Error 0X0000 might be my solution.

So, off to read and download some more files... any advice from those more experienced would be appreciated.
