F900BT low nav and phone volume-bypass problem?

Hi,

first time poster- having followed all directions on the forum I have installed F900BT into my 2007 Jeep wrangler with factory amplified system. I used a Metra CHTo-03 harness. This requires output via RCAs. I performed the hardware bypass first and have updated to 3.02. All via excellent instructions from this site. Everything works great but the nav voice and phone are quiet even on max. Infact inaudible above 40 mph, although i should note that they do mute/att the source correctly. Also their volume is independent of the volume knob.

Searching, it seems that other people have had a problem in the past- particularly when using RCA connections but i cant see why this would occur.

is it a problem with the HW bypass? - seems unlikely

any ideas guys? It is a pity there is no SLA adjustment for phone and nav

I cant really use the mosfet speaker outs from the unit as i would have to rip out the whole factory amplified system...........

have you checked the main system volume settings in the menus?

I have put the phone and gps volumes to maximum in the settings menu on the unit. The manual doesn't mention any further settings for phone and gps vol. are there others?

what would happen if i connected the high level speaker outputs to the harness- would it fry it?

you would all most for certain damage something (most likely the speakers)by using the amplified outputs as a signal input for another amp, unless of course the amp had high level inputs, and if that was the case then all of your audio would be very quiet. you would also probably have a huge amount of distortion from amplifying the signal twice,or it would just be really loud at the lowest volume setting on the radio.

how loud are the system beeps, if they are also very quiet, there should be a master system volume, that controls pretty much all of the system noises. now im not a 100% sure about this but it could also control the BT sound and voices levels.

thanks for the reply

you have confirmed what i feared about the speaker connections- although i don't know whether the factory amp did take high level inputs. For the record, although the system responds to the volume control i need to turn it up to 60 at cruising speeds (80 mph)

Interestingly the button beeps are just as quiet as the bluetooth and nav voice. How do i find this master volume setting as it may be the answer......................................?

thanks for any help

For reference I have solved the problem. Turned up the gain on the MEtra CHT0-03 harness. Everything is now considerably louder- no increase in distortion- i suspect this was due to the speakers being underpowered at high volume
