I have very bad reception on my z1 navigation unit. How can that be fixed.

well its going to be hard finding help for a Z-series headunit in a forum for X-series headunits.

 

but all that being said, you proabaly used the wrong antenna adapter, there is one made that has a built in signal booster that need to be powered up. which is fairly common with german cars
