Avic F90BT screen stopped functioning

My first post, so i hope you all don't mind helping. I had Nebraska Furniture Mart install an F-90BT into my Jeep Liberty (I know, whats a furniture store installing a car stereo for, well they do). About 2 months ago the screen stopped functioning while driving. The map & menu buttons are very faintly lit with a dim purple glow. I can sometimes get it to turn on when it's in reverse & i hit the map button, it then stays on, but it's always dimmer than normal (as if the dimmer senses my dash lights are on).

I called Pioneer out of frustration and the tech said it was due to the Mart connecting it up to bypass the brake sensor, that after a certain amount of time the deck will simply go into a protective mode for safety reasons. He said to attempt to reconnect the brake line (mint green wire) to the brake and it should work. I tried doing this and from what I could tell I connected the original brake wire they hooked up. But, it's still dim and not bringing up the screen.

Pioneer said they had several calls on this over the past few months and finally figured out after many customers were sending them in for service that it was due to the bypass.

Any suggestions on getting this resolved would be greatly appreciated. You can email me directly at [email protected]

Thanks

It has NOTHING to do with the bypass, but might have a lot to do with a bad installation.

Take it out of the car and test it on the workbench with a 12v power supply, that's all you need to make it run.

I wouldn't have thought it had anything to do with the bypass either, but the Pioneer tech assured me that it was the cause. He said "for whatever reason" the AVIC decks will determine the emergency brake isn't connected correctly & begins to not function correctly because of it. To be honest, the deck has been in my Jeep since the day those units originally shipped, so that's been at least a solid two years, right?

...and the Pioneer tech is WRONG, end of story.

It's time to take the unit out and test it on the workbench.

At 2 years old it may be very possible the unit has failed in some way, and that is to say "it has nothing to do with the bypass"
