Hello all. I bought a F700BT off Ebay a few weeks ago and it is in decent shape. I also purchased a variable power supply to test it with before install. First off it is a Canadian model. It powers up but system and map setting is grayed out. I cannot check firmware or maps. I bought a empty SD card but I guess I have to format it FAT32 and load a virgin set of firmware for it. So I have a few questions.

1. Does it being a Canadian model matter? I would like to load 2.0 or 3.0 with new US Maps. Pioneers site states not to load US firmware and maps on a Canadian unit.

2. Does it have to have an SD in it upon bootup to let me access system and map settings?

3. I have seen on EBAY, companies that will send you the 3.0 update and 2010 maps for $25. Is that legit?

I am new to the Pioneer Nav units so please bear with me. Any help woould be appreciated.

Thanks: Steve

It shouldn't, but I've never had a CA unit.

No, ground the parking brake.

No.

Thanks Jason. How do I ground parking brake wire when it is not installed yet. I have it hooked up to a variable power supply on a bench. I was wanting to get it working and updated before I put it in my Avalanche

Thanks: Steve

Just ground the parking brake lead to the ground of the power source you're using to test.
