I have been using an iPod Classic (120GB) successfully with my stereo for about 6 months. There have been a few times where the iPod will "reset" and start playing the first song on it's list but other than that it's been trouble free. Just recently when I plug the iPod in the whole unit goes blank or to a black screen and is basically disabled from doing anything else. Once I unplug the iPod everything returns to normal. I have reset the unit to factory settings and rebotted the iPod. What else can I do????

I fiddled with it for awhile and ended up fixing the problem by starting a song playing on the iPod manually and THEN plugging it back into the cable. It's working fine with the stereo now. There is something a little buggy about the interface between the stereo and the iPod. Not sure how to get around that other than unplugging and rebooting/etc when there is a problem.

Do a complete restore of the iPod and re-sync your content and the problem will likely go away.
