By the time someone gets it figured out on this years model, Android will already be running on next years model. It is widely suspected that 2012 will see Android powered units from both Kenwood and Pioneer.

The SirfPrima already has linux support. the question is finding it. If I can find a kernel, the hardest part is done for us.

Even if the new units are Android, it would give new useful life to our older generation HU's if this pans out. Might be the 1st really useful hack. Unfortunately, would require wifi or wireless internet to really take advantage of this.

Bluetooth Dial Up Networking, means internet over bluetooth.

You could also use WiFi tethering, especially if your phone runs Android.

How's the HU gonna do WiFi? No NIC. Gotta tether via USB or BT.

If you're going through the trouble to hack the software, you'd be a bloody fool not to hack the hardware too.

This is to allow the unit to operate the aha radio and other features it would with the apple iphone? I'm wondering because I'm trying to decide if I should get a iphone or the new android phone coming out....

It would be awesome if this port happens.
