Attenuation (ATT)

I was a big user of the ATT function on my N2 but was saddened to see that my new Z1 does not have that function. Or does it? I haven't been able to find it. I usually used it whenever I pulled up to a drive-thru window or the bank teller and now I will have to manually lower the volume. It's really not a big deal but it's just something I got used to and now I have to get used to doing it a different way. I was hoping there would be an ATT button on my CD-SR1 remote but I received it today and I didn't see such button.

Though it would be a pain you can port a switch to the mute wire.

I just added a regular switch and hooked it up to the cellular mute input.

Right, what I was saying above, though the wiring would be simple the aesthetics would be a pain IMO, as I'm anal about the look of the install.

I probably would not make a switch because I too am anal about what the install looks like but just out of curiousity... what exactly do you do with the cell mute input? Do you ground it or give it 12V+? If I get desperate enough I might buy the OEM foglight switch for my Honda Pilot and install it in the empty slot (I don't have the foglights). I like keeping stuff looking as stock as possible.

The AV button may do what you want, every time you press the AV button it will change the source (ie DVD, LIBRARY, FM, AM ......), but if you just hold the AV button down, it will turn off the source - kind of a brute force mute. Press the AV button again, it will go back to the source you selected last and continue playing......

I guess that will work too. I was just wondering why they would leave out the ATT on a $2200 stereo???

I'm not sure what Pioneer's is but Alpine's units take ground for the mute wire, I'd assume thats an idustry standard but I've only ever setup one mute wire setup. Also, FYI, according to the manual the voice navigation instructions and bluetooth ringer and phone connection will not be muted when the mute wire is activated.

Probably because of space. I hold down the A/V when my phone rings. Works just like a mute button, close enought to ATT

I was dissappointed too but then realized that the unit has the feature. You can only use it from a remote (I have it hooked up to my steering wheel controls using a pac module). I thought it was a little strange but it works.

Which remote button is ATT?

The IR codes are the same across all Pioneer units, so a remote from a single CD player w/ the ATT key would work on a Z1. You can order these items from parts.pioneerelectronics.com.

the Z1's remote is CDSR1 - it has voice command function and mute, also will control the bluetooth phone if you have it... for $20 it's not that bad...

I must be missing something because I have the CDSR1 but don't have a mute button nor ATT button...which button is it exactly? The one with an "X" on it? That button doesn't mute for me.

look at that... could have sworn I saw a mute on it... My bad - the mute from other pioneer remotes of the same chassis type will work.

I just took a button on my steering wheel that we never use (mem or media...can't remember) and programmed it to mute on the SWI. Works great...and something that should have been done from the factory.

Wheres the mute button that you programmed from?

I just got my Z1 installed last week in a BMW M3 I have the Pacs steering wheel controls, there is a button on my steering wheel which I thought was for voice command but when I price it, "ATT" comes up on the screen and it significantly reduces the volume. So it can be done. I had the unit prof. installed so I don't know how it was done.

ATT is on my full remote but I can't get anything on the full remote to work yet.

Edrock....I'm not sure I understand what you're asking me. But here is what I did...The SWI-PS doesn't care what button is what on your steering wheel. All it cares about is what "frequency" is received when you push a button. It assigns that "frequency" to whatever function on the SWI-PS you are programming and converts it to the corresponding signal for the Z1 for that operation. (I realize you know all this, but there may be some that don't) So what I did was take the "media" button on the Aviator steering wheel controls (since we don't really use that one anyway) and when it came to the "mute" sequence in the SWI-PS sequence, I assigned that button to that action. Now, when you hit "media" on my steering wheel controls, it mutes (attenuates) the Z1. You could assign this action to just about any button you want. I chose one we don't normally use. I have one other button I could switch to another action (MEM) and I would like to assign that to "voice command" of the Z1. To do that, the Z1 would have to be able to accept that command from the hard wired port. I can't find out if it will. However, it will from the IR port, so I'm guessing it's there if we can find it. PAC has told me they would be willing to add it if we can confirm it.

Sorry, I thought you said you used the SWI-X, which needs to be programmed from the pioneer remote.
