Howdy! First off I would like to thank Ducatiboy for this bypass write up as well as his prompt responses to questions posted by other forum members. Now as far as my question, is there anyway to playback video from a cd-r? I am having no luck with video playback from my Creative Zen player which is connected through the rca input. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Video playback on Z1
Hi!
I dont know if you did this, but I believe you need to activate the "A/V" source from the settings menu, then select the AV source from the source menu when attempting to play an external source hooked up to the rca jacks.
Also, I may be wrong here, but I think I read that the units can play SVCD movies and not VCD (more common) movies on CD-R.
Hi, thanks for the quick reply. I have activated the A/V option in the menu, and still no video. I will try again, maybe I was rushing through it.
As far as SVCD, I have not tried that. I was wondering about Mpegs just burned onto a cdr.
Does the video work on a regular TV? Do you have something else, like a DVD player you know works that you can run an extension cord out to the vehicle and try the RCA input jacks?
PaisanNYC is right, you have to enable that before it will work, but it sounds like you did that already. It's possible they are defective...
I would check some known RCA inputs and outputs and see what works. Theoretically as long as the Z1 is bypassed you should see something.
Now does the audio work but not the video? Or neither?
PS, you are welcome!
no it doe not play vcd or svcd. hope that will change on the z2 but doesn't look like it for now.
what is pioneer thinking?? ![]()
Pioneer has prevented a lot of CODECS from being played on their units in order to prevent copyright infringement. Don't forget, they are in the video and music production industry as well. I don't think they will ever allow most CODECS to be played on any of their mobile audio systems for this very reason. I know, it's a bummer but it is reality. They want you to BUY it, not BURN it!
What plays on your DVD player at home will not necessarily play on your Z1. ALL DVD players can be designed to play some types of CODECS and not others. It's all up to the manufacturer of the player in what they will and will not allow to be played on their systems. The bottom line is no, you cannot play copied movies and most copied music on the Z1. But if you do find a way, please let us all know.
Cheers,
Kevin
Thats why I purchased the AVOX media jukebox with 120GB harddrive, and plugged it into the AV inputs. The thing even plays Divx movies ![]()
