Hey guys...just got word of this forum from a buddy of mine. Did some searching around but didn't find too much relating to this specific topic. Alot of the info on these forums are very informational though for sure!

I purchased my AVIC-D1 last march or there-abouts and just got around to registering the product with Pioneer. When I bought the unit, I was told that all I have to do to get the updated Navigation Discs was register the unit with Pioneer and they will send me the updates when they come out.

Well, I am assuming what the salesman told me was completely inaccurate as the updated Navigation Discs seem to be going for $250 on Pioneer's website. I find it pretty ridiculous to pay that much money for an upgrade that I feel should be free after spending close to $1000 on a Navigation System.

However, after registering the product with Pioneer the lady on the phone told me that I would be sent a software upgrade but wasn't too informational about what exactly I am upgrading.

I received the upgrade discs in the mail today and they look VERY similar to what I currently am using as the Navigations Discs. Blue discs that say AVIC-D1 Version 1.2 Navigation Disc East and then the same thing for West. My car is at the body shop right now so I do not know what version I currently have been using but it seems that every disc is a different color, no?

I am also confused as to whether I received a Navigation Disc or a Software update disc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks-

John

You likely got mailed the latest version of the D1 software. If you want newer software you have to buy it, or pirate it like others have chosen to do. The 2006 software is CNDV60, and it appears the 2007 software will be CNDV70 but it will not be released for a few months

Thanks for the reply.

So when they say "software" that includes the Navigation Disc on the same DVD? And all the "model" Navigation/Software DVD Discs are interchangeable between all the AVIC models?

Thanks again-

Includes a west coast and east coast nav disk. The disks are fairly interchangable but once you upgrade to a new one, you cannot go back without reflashing your unit in the service menu

Is the new one recommended then?

Yes it fixes a few software bugs in the d1.

And after that software is updated with the new disc i received i can also update to the newest 60MT software? Or is that just a map change?

Yes you can. The 60 has newer maps, more cities with detailed metro mapping, and lane information

awesome. thanks for the help.

Do you know of anyone that is selling copies of these discs?

got some pictures of exactly what I received from Pioneer after registering the product online.

Are these what you guys were referring to above? I noticed they didnt say "CNDV-50MTP" or anything like the rest of the discs I see say. Instead they just say Application Disc.

Like I said in the first post. Do i just pop that in update the software and then remove it and put the older disc back in? or does this completely replace the older nav. discs that came with my AVIC originally.

Also, once this update is taken care of, what is the LATEST "code" Disc that is most current. "CNDV-60M" correct? And that is applicable with the D1?

Sorry for the noob questions, but I am just trying to understand what all these discs are and whatnot.

Yeah I forget where the software version number is, but those are the 50 series discs.

Pop one in, the avic will update. Then tthats it. You use those discs from now on. The only way you'd be able to use the older discs is if you downgraded your avic, but thats another thread.

Yes and yes.

Not a problem. Most of my answers were cut and pasted from other posts anyway.

thanks alot for the help.

1 more question...Is there anyone reputable on here that has the "60 series" discs that copies them? that i wont have to worry about them not working properly and messing up the unit itself as I have read in some other posts from people who had bought 60 series discs off ebay.
