I have a Z-120BT that I have had for about 8 months and as a player of music via my ipod it is outstanding. I don't know of anything better ( not that I know anything).
Anyway what I hate about the GPS is that POI's don't show up while traveling. Ninety five percent of the time all I ever see are the generic icons. I even down loaded
POI's from Avicfeeds using the POI maker. Formatted an SD card, made KML files, and did everything I was supposed to do to have the 120 see and recognize the files. Still no POI icons (such as fast food) showed up on the screen.
I have written emails and called customer support about the situation and here is the last reply I received: Thank you for contacting Pioneer Electronics, Inc.
I'm sorry, there has been no progress on your situation. There is no options we can provide on the POI information.
You would have to make your own POI's and compile the specific POI's you want on the SD card. POI's can not be loaded from any other source.
POI's will not automatically update as you are driving. Only exiting the menu and starting over from your current location.
Now that is just plain unacceptable in my view. GPS's that cost 1/10th as much as my Z120 do so much better and give useful information AS you travel. And now Pioneer is wanting people to download a new version of Avicfeeds dtd March 18,2011. In their build up they are saying to "upload POI's from Internet Sites".
On the one hand customer service is telling my there is nothing really that I can do and Pioneer is wanting people to go wild with POI's.
Whats going on? Anybody else as disgusted as I am about POI's? Has anyone overcome this problem and can see icon POI"s in route instead of just seeing only generic icons?
If someone knows how to fix this problem please let me know. I would be SOOOOOOOO greatful.
Thanks,
Corky
