Hey,

I've only had my unit for a few days and have not seen alot of options to adjust especially this:

I noticed that when i set a destination and take a wrong turn it does not recalculate my travel route - Is this standard ?? I would be surprised if it was ... seems pretty standard even on the stand alone Tom Tom models.

Also I'm not getting turn by turn audio - the only time I hear anything is when i reach my destination. The voice alerts me of that only. Is there a setting i've missed, unlikly but i'll entertain the option

Go into your navi menu and make sure the voice guidance is on as well as the auto reroute

I have no idea what your talking about - i've pressed every button combination i could think of to edit those settings.

Could you please be a little more specific. I.e., When the Navigation is functioning press menu button, etc., etc.,

Thanks again

Please respond - If this is possible it seems like a pretty easy

'how to' and I would appreciate your input.

Thanks in advance

You might have to actually open the manual.

Or if you don't want to, then just download the pdf from pioneer and do a search:

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pio/pe/images/portal/cit_11221/308223015AVICZ1OperationManual.pdf

I appreciate everyone giving me a little credit in assuming I did not attempt that. I have the electronic copy of the manual and did find the section as to where it indicates 'voice guidance', and was unable to find the 'reroute' option when you turn off course.

My question was a little deeper than that - Does the map view have to be in a certain mode (i.e., spit, overview, or any other ) for the voice guidance to be activated. I have pressed the 'speaker' icon a million and one times and again all i hear is the audio when i reach my destination.

And still have not found the option that activates the Z1 to recalculate your route automatically when you turn off course.

- So please ! if you can keep from reposting 'check the manual' for the 5th time.

Again thank you for the help regarding this topic.

To be honest, I searched for this for a couple minutes (when people ask for stuff in the manual a quick PDF search usually finds it) but I have to agree with Glow, I could not find anything where you could turn on and off the re-route option.

This I know you don't need, there is a setting to view the icon for voice guidance.... then it will tell you if it's on or off. It is just a speaker icon and you either see the speaker or the speaker with a red X through it. When there is a red X you only get the final destination, with it the speaker, it will tell you turn by turn.

I don't think you have to be in a specific view to get this.

Page 31, item (4)

Page 39, it's item (21).

Page 45 and 46 is how to show that and hide it.

You can also try going to the volume section and make sure the guide volume is not set to 0. Page 91.

If the volume is up and the voice is enabled, and you still don't get anything I would guess it thinks you have a guide speaker installed and you don't so it's trying to pump the guidance out of the separate guide speaker and you don't have one.

Sorry for the delay in responding. We get busy and to be honest you did seem a little pushy in your 3rd post in this thread. I sometimes sit back and hope someone else will answer people's questions cause it takes quite a long time to do so.

Honestly the re-route option just always worked for me. I never had it not work, so i don't know why yours is not. Page 195 has:

Auto Reroute

• Auto Reroute is used when you deviate more

than 0.01 mi (Approx. 15m) from the route.

• The Auto Reroute function does not work in the

following cases:

- when your vehicle is not on a street

- when you are too close to your destination

- when your vehicle is on a ferry

- when driving on a road inside a facility

- when driving on a traffic circle

- when driving on the routes are described in

[Roads not used in calculations]

Any of this fit in to what you are seeing?

Something else you might want to look at is the VSS line. I seem to remember the rerouting working with it not hooked up and I know it does when it's hooked up, but what happens if it's hooked up and acting weird? Don't know.

Thank you for your post and I apologize if my 3rd did seem pushy - it was not my intention. Perhaps I should have stated that I had already exhausted my options within the manual itself. I will further troubleshoot the issue with the information you've provided. It is not out of the question that it was install incorrectly I would just like to adress that as a last resort. Thanks again for your thoroughness.

Your second post was fine, I think it was a combination of the "Please respond" and that was posted less than an hour and a half from your last post. I remember thinking... we will get to it, give us a few minutes, please! :)

Perhaps I should have stated that I had already exhausted my options within the manual itself.

That might have prevented the "read the manual" responses. 9 times out of 10 people post something here when a quick search of the pdf manual will tell you the answer. And after a year or so answering the same questions it gets old. I'm not trying to yell at you or anything, but someone who posts something a little more in depth and that shows that you read and tried before asking generally makes people more willing to help. Not saying you didn't do that, but this is for anyone else reading this. Just an FYI.

I don't know if it's an install problem or a setup problem. Page 19 says:

Auto Reroute Function

If you deviate from the set route, the system will

re-calculate the route from that point so that you

remain on track to the destination.

This function may not work in certain areas.

I wonder what those areas are and if you are in one....

The auto rerouting works with the vss disconnected. I had it disconnected for a week after I got it and it always rerouted.

'check the manual' --Sorry, wanted to be #5!

When a route is calculated, the route and

voice guidance for the route is automatically

set.

Seems that there shouldn't be anything to set to get it to work.

You can also try going to the volume section and make sure the guide volume is not set to 0. Page 91.

Page 155, shows you how to set the muting/attenuation timing. If you set it to Guide/Tel/VR, then I'd guess that your radio/dvd/cd volume would lower/turn off even if the AVIC thinks you have a guide speaker.
