Everything worked fine the night before. Got in the car today an GPS is aying it cant find a signal do to hardware? This mean my antenna is dead? Also its not reading any info from my speed sensor or (VSS).

I assume its not reading anything while driving, which would be a problem. check connections, check the line for the ant. maybe even a reset

Posted Jan 19, 2007 · 05:03 UTC#3

Have checked the connections to the deck and have completed a level 1 reset as well ....

Posted Jan 19, 2007 · 05:09 UTC#4

maybe a step up in the reset?

Was that the message it gave you? Cannot find signal due to hardware?

Exactly!

I do not believe that your problem is with the antenna, homey. If the antenna is not connected, I believe the message will state that the antenna is not connected. Your unit may be defective.

Spoke wit pioneer today. They doubt its the antenna. I am just not "seeing" a gps signal.

When I got to connection status is see the following:

Speed Signal = Nok

GPS Ant = Nok

Install Position = Nok

Power Volt = Nok

Back Signal = nok (I have not connected the reverse light)

I am wondering if maybe the gyro is screwed.

I have completed a level 3 and attempted a level 4 whick erased the drive of my files...Although I cannot reset the 3D calibration as it is greyed out...

Any suggestions?

check the ant. position and then call pioneer for service

Posted Jan 19, 2007 · 18:17 UTC#10

Mmmhmmm, that'll be going out for service.

Posted Jan 19, 2007 · 18:21 UTC#11

it it still covered under warranty? how long you had it?

Posted Jan 19, 2007 · 18:22 UTC#12

they have a 70 evaulation fee...Anyone know what a typical repair may be? I may not get the warranty repair as I dont have the receipt to prove where I bought it from.

Posted Jan 19, 2007 · 18:24 UTC#13

dont know the avg. fee but maybe they do, ask em.

Posted Jan 19, 2007 · 18:25 UTC#14

If you can't find your reciept, you may be able to convince the repair dept. to use the manufacture date, if that is within a year. Just be nice. The serviceperson is your friend.

Ok pulled the radio out yesterday...Seems the secret wire that is from connector 2 to ground has broke the pin connector of the wire and this wire was laying on the top of the back of the deck. The othre end was connected to the ground so I am wondering if this created a ground loop and screwed up my gyro... From the symptoms I am getting I am thinking the gyro or something may have opened a circuit on the board possibly???

Whats up guys.. I have the same problem with the Z1 reading NOK and hardware problems. Installed it 2 days ago brand new. It worked fine for a day then started to freeze up everytime I turn off the unit. It would be in the same location that I stopped last. I drove to my friends house yesterday and it turned on the way there out of no where! It started to work again but then it stopped again when I was ready to leave. lol. This is annoying, anyone else have an idea of whats up?

YEar/make/model will help. How were the wire connections made? Solder and tape, butt connectors etc.

Posted Jan 22, 2007 · 05:10 UTC#18

merely touching the top of the avic unit wouldnt cause a problem per say, if the wire tapped something on its way to resting on the top then maybe.. but thats a bit of a stretch

Sorry. :D 2006 Nissan 350z no bose. b. connects. Gps antenna is in the top middle of the dash, right near the windshield. I’ve read on some 350z installs, the antenna is on the rear strut bar. Im going back to my friends shop this week to see if moving the antenna back there would help, maybe see if any wires are pinched or connects that are maybe loose. If that doesn’t work then the place where I bought said they will exchange it for another one. How would you know if you get a refurbished item?

well, if they put it in for you, then you probably wont know. if you watch them take it out of the box, then well... you would know... also the manufacture date could be a kinda indication, but not definitive.
