Is this par for the course when upgradng from a AVIC Z2 to a 130 BT?

My old AVIC Z2 played CD's and displayed artist and song titles. You would think the newer model 130 BT would also.

I don't think there is any way to make this happen. Anyone know anything about this?

The Z2 had a CDDB database and that is the only reason it showed titles. That is now a thing of the past with new units as the focus heads more towards non-CD based medias. There is no way to have titles on the new units unless you burn your own CDs with the titles encoded.

Somehow, my response got lost, so I'll try again. I assume you were talking about audio CDs? MP3's burned to a CD will display ID3 tags. The user interface/browser isn't nearly as great as the iPod UI, but it is an improvement over audio CDs, IMO. Of course, with iPod you get a slick UI, album art, and VR selection of artist,album,playlist....

You'll just have to "reburn" your audio cds with CD-TEXT, most audio burner software like Nero can automatically retrieve the CDDB database and insert them into the CD-TEXT info, unless it was a custom track/playlists (not original artist cd), but most cases of you created it from mp3's usually the tag info from mp3s will transfer over to CD-TEXT, as long as the CD-TEXT is enabled on your burner software.

I know its a pain the arse to reburn your cds, but then I can keep my originals stored and just use burned discs so if I scratch or break them it doesnt matter I can reburn it again... then again I haven't used a CD since I got my iTouch and iPhone! :-P
